CIRCULINS A and B

Source Plant

The circulins were isolated from Chassalia parvifolia Schumann (Rubiaceae) originally collected in Tanzania in the Iringa Region in the Mufindi Kigogo forest reserve in December 1988 (Gereau et al. 2758).

Activity

The circulins are macrocyclic peptides that exhibit anti-HIV activity although the mechanism has not yet been defined.
