Guttiferone E was isolated from a sample of Garcinia ovalifolia Oliv. (Clusiaceae) collected in the Ndakan Gorilla Study Area of the Central African Republic in March of 1988 (Fay 8287).

Activity

The Guttiferones are polyisoprenylated benzophenone derivatives that inhibit the cytopathic effects of in vitro HIV infection.
