International Ethnoveterinary Database

The International Ethnoveterinary Database has been created to provide to a wide audience information on plants used to treat illness in animals. Descriptions of traditional ethnoveterinary medical practice are not readily available on the internet. Nor is there an index of effective plant-based remedies against which researchers can check the validity of materials that may be available in commerce. Researchers wanting to find out which plants have been used to treat a specific illness will find data on thousands of species recorded in the database.

Most of the research data on ethnoveterinary plant use were collected in the Andes and Himalayas, two important livestock regions. The WLBC's on-going research project in western Nepal will provide additional entries in the years ahead.

Funding for the project was provided by Novus International.
